Thunder Elite Development Squads - Expression of Interest (EOI)

Following on from the successful introduction of our Thunder Academy in 2024, and in conjunction with ASA, Thornleigh Thunder FC is looking to offer a comprehensive player development opportunity for our 2025 players from U6 - 18. As a club we are seeking an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the opportunity to be a part of a Thornleigh Thunder Elite Development Squad run by ASA coaches.

Please note, the Thunder Academy (14-week skills program) and the Thornleigh Thunder Skills Training will continue to run and is separate to this initiative.

We are excited to offer the Elite Development Squads program, designed to provide young players with a dynamic team environment to accelerate both their football skills and confidence. This program serves as an excellent pathway for players aspiring to compete at representative levels or progress to our club’s Super League program in the future.

The ASA program, run by ex-professional Pasquale Polistina, who played in Europe, strives to offer quality academy training, based on principles of European Football, that gives young players an edge on the football pitch. ASA is dedicated to developing grassroots football in Australia by providing an environment where participants, regardless of level, can improve their individual and team skills through quality training whilst having fun.

We are reaching out to gauge interest in this concept within our community. To move forward, we require a full squad commitment in each age group (see minimum numbers required below). Minimum Numbers to Proceed for Each Age Group

Under 6-7: min. of 6 players

Under 8-9: min. of 8 players

Under 10-12: min of 10 players

Under 13-18: min. of 12 players

24 Week Program: Ages 6-18 (1hr sessions)

Training 2 Days per week + Saturday game

$1200 + Thornleigh Thunder Registration* (includes ASA coach for 2 sessions and Saturday game).

The details are provided below.

Eligibility:	2025 players age appropriate for U6-18 teams. Mixed (Saturday) and Female (Sunday) competitions.
Trials	TBC – Dependent on interest.
Commencement	February 2025, approximately 6 weeks prior to season kick off.
Duration	24 weeks.
Coaches	1 x ASA Coach (Training led by ASA coach)
Parent coaches	Mandatory 1 parent assistant coach per team (to assist at training and on game day)
Timing	Tuesday and Thursday night, 60mins per session. Players are required to attend both training nights.
Location	Oakleigh Oval or Ruddock Park
Format	Sessions will be a blend of technical mastery, skills, modified games and match play.
Cost	$1200 + Thornleigh Thunder Registration

This pathway is crafted to provide parents with a clear understanding of the long-term opportunities available to their child, with the ultimate goal of instilling a lifelong passion for football and building strong ties within the Thornleigh community. The ASA Thornleigh Thunder Elite Development Squads program is dedicated to nurturing young players while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle, ensuring their continued engagement in the sport for years to come.
